LeerOstfriesland/Germany
The Bünting Teemuseum is a museum in the historic centre of Leer, Germany, dedicated to the history of tea and East Frisian tea culture. Founded in 2001 near the site of Johann Bünting’s original 1806 colonial goods shop, the museum also explores the more than 200-year history of the Bünting company. The exhibition traces the history of tea from the 17th century to the present, covering tea cultivation, production, processing, trade routes and tasting. Displays include tea utensils, porcelain and other objects from different tea cultures around the world, with a particular focus on the traditions of East Frisia. Visitors can also experience a traditional East Frisian tea ceremony and learn about the history of Bünting and its famous Ostfriesentee.
