Inside a 17th-century canal house on Amsterdam’s Herengracht, Art Zoo Museum transforms the animal kingdom into an artistic spectacle. Created by Dutch taxidermy artists Darwin, Sinke & Van Tongeren, the displays combine carefully preserved animals with theatrical compositions, intricate details and a sense of wonder inspired by historic cabinets of curiosities. Colourful birds, winding snakes and imposing crocodiles appear among the museum’s elaborate arrangements, blurring the line between natural history and fine art. Opened in 2025, the museum offers a different perspective on the natural world, where craftsmanship, scientific curiosity and artistic imagination meet. The collection is displayed in historic rooms that add to the atmosphere of this unusual museum.
