Air Force Museum Of New Zealand

Aircraft fill the former Royal New Zealand Air Force base at Wigram, where the Air Force Museum of New Zealand traces more than a century of military aviation. From early biplanes to Cold War aircraft and helicopters, the collection shows how New Zealand’s air force developed alongside changing technology and warfare. Large aircraft dominate the hangars, but the museum also preserves uniforms, engines, weapons, photographs and personal stories from the people who served. Visitors can get close to aircraft such as the Avro Lancaster, Bristol Freighter and English Electric Canberra, while exhibitions explore New Zealand’s involvement in conflicts from the First World War onwards.
